At the CIE 2025 Midterm Conference, three prestigious awards will be presented to honor outstanding contributions in the field of light and lighting science:

Only the Full-length Papers are eligible for the selection process of the Best Paper Award (Best Paper/Best Poster/Best Student Paper).

  • Best Paper Award winner will be selected from Full-length Papers that are accepted for oral presentation (15-min long).
  • Best Poster Award winner will be selected from Full-length Papers that are accepted as posters, including presented poster presentations (i.e. 5-min short presentation).
  • Best Student Paper Award winner will be selected from Full-length Papers where the lead author is a student, who must also present the paper at CIE 2025. This must be indicated during the submission process.

The selection of award winners will be carried out by the Vice-President Technical (VPT) and the International Scientific Programme Committee (ISPC). Winners will be recognized for the excellence of their work and will receive up to three selected CIE publications, complimentary registration for CIE 2027, and their papers will be considered for inclusion in special issues of the journals Lighting Research and Technology (LR&T) and Color Research and Application (CR&A).

The CIE stands for working on the fundamentals in light and lighting and for the consolidation of knowledge, so that it can be used in practice. Part of our portfolio in this area is also to give publicity and awards to inspiring and high-quality research. At each CIE conference, we recognize the best paper, student paper, and poster, with prizes including free registration for the next conference. This initiative is made possible by sponsors like Trilux, who specifically support inspiring and high-quality research.
